How our date change policy works

The availability constraint
The critical constraint on date changes is permit availability on the new date. We cannot change your permit to a date on which no permits are available, and in peak season months, the new date you prefer may already be fully booked. We recommend requesting date changes as early as possible if you anticipate needing one — the earlier the request, the better the availability picture on alternative dates is likely to be, and the lower the applicable fees. A date change requested 90 days before the original trek date has far better available alternatives than one requested 10 days before.
The postponement option
For clients who need to postpone their Uganda trip entirely — not just move by a few days, but change the year or season of travel — we offer a postponement option that holds the permit credit for up to 12 months from the original booking date. This option is available for cancellations made at least 60 days before the original trek date and allows the full permit value (net of any non-recoverable UWA fees) to be applied to a new booking within the credit period. The postponement option is particularly valuable for clients who encounter unexpected circumstances — medical issues, family emergencies, travel disruptions — that make the original travel date impossible but who are committed to making the gorilla trek eventually.
