However its advisable to do it in the dry seasons of June-September and December-February. Being caught in the rain during your trek is slippery and a bit unpleasant. Remember to carry warm clothes because the gorillas are found in altitudes of over 2000m. Bwindi impenetrable national park is the most popular gorilla trekking destination in Uganda. The park is home to over 450 gorillas. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi is done in 4 different sectors. Ruhija. Rushaga, Nkuringo and Buhoma. All these sectors have habituated gorilla families that are ready to be admired. A gorilla trekking permit is required in order to trek. Because only 8 people are allowed to see a gorilla family each day, permits are usually in short supply during the high season. You are advised to book your permit at least 3 months prior to your Uganda safari tour.
Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park
Mgahinga gorilla national park is located in the south western part of Uganda. The park borders with Rwanda and DR Congo. Mgahinga is the second gorilla destination in Uganda. Although the area has one gorilla family, its one of the best destinations for gorilla trekking in Uganda. This is due to the fact that the terrain offers easier hikes to encounter the gorillas. The vegetation is less dense than Bwindi national park. More so, due to the abundance of food, the gorilla family has the biggest silverbacks you can possibly encounter on any gorilla trek.
