This 4 day cycling and gorilla safari in Uganda takes you to Bwindi impenetrable national park or gorilla trekking and cycling and Lake Mburo for cycling and wildlife safaris. Bwindi is one of the most popular safari destinations in Uganda and is home to the largest number of mountain gorillas in the world. While Lake Mburo doesn’t have the some of the big cats, the park is home to the largest herds of impala and Zebra.

4 day cycling and gorilla safari itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi national park.

Upon the commencement of this 4 day cycling and gorilla safari in Uganda, you will be briefed on the safari by a representative from Getaway Uganda Tours. Driving along the Masaka highway, we will make a stop at the equator for breakfast and some pictures. Proceed to Bwindi through Mbarara, Ntungamo and Kabale. On arrival at the hotel, we will check into the lodge with the beautiful views of the forest.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and cycling to Lake Bunyonyi.

On this day, we head out for the highly anticipated gorilla trekking. After a safety briefing at the park headquarters, we will be divided into groups of 8 to trek the various gorilla families. The trek into the forest is both rewarding and exciting. On making spotting the gorillas, we will be amazed at the sheer beauty of these gentle giants. An hour is allocated to observing them as they eat and go about their business. Videos and photos are allowed. However the flash mode has to be disabled. After the trek, we will return to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the afternoon, we will head out to Lake Bunyonyi on our cycling expedition. This will allows us to experience the forest and the local communities from a different perspective. Depending on your level of fitness, we will reach Lake Bunyonyi and relax for the night.

Day 3: Cycling in Bunyonyi and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

After a well-rested night, we will have a morning cycling adventure on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi. The spectacular scenery around the lake offers unforgettable memories on this Uganda cycling safari. The transfer will take us to Lake Mburo national park where we will check into our lodge for the night.

Day 4: Cycling safari and return to Kampala.

On the last day of our 4 day cycling and gorilla safari in Uganda, we will have a hot breakfast before your cycling safari in the park. Although the park lacks the big cats, Lake Mburo offers a variety of wildlife. These include; leopards, buffalo, giraffes, topi, eland, zebra, impala, warthogs and much more. These can be spotted as you cycle in the park. We will then check out of the park and head for Kampala where our cycling and gorilla safari will end.

On this 4 day Rhino and Kidepo wildlife safari, you will trek through the grasslands of Zziwa in search of the rhino in their natural habitat. Visit the Aru falls on your way up north and immerse yourself in the wilderness that is Kidepo valley national park.

4 day Rhino and Kidepo wildlife safari itinerary

Day 1: Rhino trekking and visit Aru falls.

On the first day of your 4 day Rhino and Kidepo wildlife safari, you will have an early start as you begin your Uganda wildlife safari. The first stop will be at the Zziwa rhino sanctuary. We will have breakfast before embarking on the trek. After a safety briefing, the rangers will guide you on foot and locate the different rhinos in the sanctuary. Each rhino family group can be seen for around 30 minutes. This is to avoid agitating them. Proceed to Gulu where we will have lunch.

We will drive further to Aru falls, 40km from Kitgum town. Here, we will hike down to the base of the waterfalls for amazing sightings and possible swimming. Since river Acwa is seasonal, the water levels tend to fluctuate with the season. We will then proceed to Kitgum where we will spend a night.

Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo and do an evening game drive.

On this day of this 4 day Rhino and Kidepo wildlife safari, we will have an early start for Kidepo valley national park. The scenic drive through the Karamajong plains is both breathtaking and rewarding. On arrival, we will check into the lodge and enjoy our delicious lunch. Later in the evening, we will venture out for an evening game drive.

On this game drive, we will drive into the Narus valley in search of the dwellers of the park. We hope to see wildlife like elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, hyenas, zebra, eland, Jackson’s hartebeests and so much more. We will then retire to the lodge for the night.

Day 3: Morning game drive and evening sun downer.

Following a restful night, we will venture into the park for another game drive. This will give us an opportunity to spot the wildlife we may missed on the previous game drive. More to that, we will take time to enjoy the ones we saw but this time at a leisurely pace. We will have a bush breakfast at Kakine campsite overlooking the Narus valley.

Later in the afternoon, we will go for an evening sun downer on the amaphas rock. This rock up crop rises 50 meters and has impeccable views of the savanna grasslands and the sunset. We will have a couple of drinks as celebrate the beauty of the park.

Day 4: Transfer to Kampala.

This is the last day of this 4 day Rhino and Kidepo wildlife safari and we will be transferring back to Kampala. This journey is long but worth it. We will have lunch in Gulu before continuing to Kampala. On arrival, the guide will drop you at your hotel, residence or airport. This will mark the end of your Uganda wildlife safari
