Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison falls national park

The guide will pick you from your hotel on the morning of your 8 day Uganda safari tour. After a short briefing, we will head out towards Murchison falls on our Uganda safari tour. We will have a breakfast break at the Kabalega diner for a warm and lovely breakfast. Proceed to the Zziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino trekking. After a safety briefing, we will proceed into the wilderness in search of the white rhino. Bearing in mind that this safari is done on foot, we will need hiking boots and trousers for this activity. On seeing the rhinos, we will keep a safe distance as we enjoy the views of the rhinos.

8 day Uganda safari tourIn order not to agitate them, we are allowed a few minutes with each rhino family. We will proceed to see other families in the area. The sanctuary is home to other wildlife like white and black colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, and antelopes like bush bucks, oribi, duiker and many more. After the rhino trekking, we will continue our journey through the Nakasongola plains before stopping in Masindi for lunch. We will continue and check into the park and head straight for the top of Murchison falls.

Here, the river Nile is forced to go in between rocks just 7 meters wide. The water then falls 47 meters into the Albert Nile. This creates a spray that raises more than 90 meters in the air. This creates a rainbow when the sun is out creating a spectacular view. We will spend time taking pictures and enjoy the wonders of nature. We will proceed to our lodge and check in for the evening and overnight.

Day 2: Game drive and Boat cruise.

On this day of our Uganda safari tour, we will wake up to an early morning breakfast before embarking on our morning game drive. This game drive will take place on the savanna plains of Murchison falls. The drive offers amazing scenery of the grasslands as well as amazing sightings of wildlife. On this drive, we hope to see lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, hippos, kobs, oribi, hartebeest, water bucks and many wildlife species. The park is home to amazing bird species like the shoe bill, king fisher, African fish eagles, egrets, saddle billed storks, grey heron, sacred ibis and many more. This drive will last up to 4 hours after which we will return to the lodge for an early lunch.

After lunch, we will go for the afternoon boat cruise on the Albert Nile. This cruise offers a relaxing yet scenic adventure. Here, we will go up stream as we enjoy the beautiful wonders of the river. Elephants, buffalo, water bucks and kobs can be seen as they come to quench their thirst in the afternoon heat. Other water dwellers like hippos and crocodiles can be seen during this cruise. Birds like woodland Kingfisher, African fish eagles, and weaver birds can be enjoyed on this Uganda safari tour. At the bottom of the falls, we will have amazing views of the falls. We will disembark and hike along the falls, enjoying the scenic views of Uhuru and Murchison falls. At the top of the falls, your guide will be waiting for you and will transfer you back to your lodge for the evening and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale national park

This day of the 8 day Uganda safari tour is a travel day. After an early breakfast, we will depart from Murchison falls national park for Kibale. We will enjoy the scenic drive through the Albertine rift. The views offer an amazing drive. We will have lunch en-route and proceed through the scenic tea plantations of Kyenjojo. On arrival in Kibale, we will check into our lodge and relax for the evening.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking

8 day Uganda safari tourWe will proceed to the park headquarters after an early breakfast. Here, we will be briefed on the guidelines of chimpanzee trekking. With an experienced ranger, we will venture into the forest for chimpanzee trekking. We will enjoy the lush green tropical forest, the chirping of the birds and the fresh air. On making contact with the chimpanzees, we will observe them as they feed, play and groom one another. Since they share 97% of DNA with humans, their amazing feeding habits like cracking hard fruits with stones is amazing. Other primates like white and black colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabeys and red tailed monkeys can be seen on this trek. After the trek, we will return to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the evening, we will go for an evening nature walk in the Bigodi wetland sanctuary. We will enjoy the scenic beauty as we spot some rare bird species like the great blue Turaco and the papyrus Gonolek. Red tailed monkeys and sitatunga can be seen in this sanctuary. We will later return to the lodge for the evening and night.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth and evening crater drive

After a restful night, we will depart Kibale National park for Queen Elizabeth national park. The scenic drive through Fort Portal offers amazing views of Mountain Rwenzori. The crater lakes offer more amazing scenery. On arrival in Queen Elizabeth national park, we will check into the lodge and relax for the afternoon.

In the evening, we will go for a crater drive. This drive sees us enjoying the magnificent views of the crater lakes created by volcanic activity. With Rwenzori Mountains as the back drop, this drive offers an amazing sunset drive as you enjoy the beauty of the lakes. We will return to the lodge for the night

Day 6: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi forest

We will have an early breakfast in preparation for a morning game drive. On the Kasenyi plains, we will have close encounters with wildlife on this Uganda safari tour. We hope to see wildlife like elephants, lions, leopards, hyenas, kobs, hippos and many more. This drive will last up to 4 hours. We will then check out of the lodge and head for Bwindi national park. The scenic drive in the rift valley offers stunning views of terraced hills and tea plantations. On arrival in Bwindi national park, we will check into the lodge and enjoy the soothing views and sounds of the forest.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking

8 day Uganda safari tourThis is one of the most sought after Uganda safari activity, Gorilla trekking. After an early breakfast, we will report to the park headquarters for briefing. Here, we will be taken through the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. We will be divided into groups of 8 to trek particular families. We will then embark on a trek through the dense forest in search of the gorilla families. On making contact, we are allowed an hour with them. Baring in mind the rules and regulations, we will spend the hour observing them as they eat and play with one another. With flashes off, we will take as many pictures and videos as we can. Depending on the location of the gorilla families, gorilla trekking takes between 2-6hours. We will return to the park headquarters for our gorilla trekking certificates before returning to the lodge.

Later in the evening, we will interact with the local community on cultural tour. We will get to experience the lives of the indigenous people of the Batwa people. We will learn of their traditions and cultures through their music, dance and their way of life. We will retire to the lodge for the night.

Day 8: Transfer to Kampala.

On the last day of this 8 day Uganda safari tour, we will depart Bwindi forest for Kampala. The scenic drive thorough the rolling hills of Kabale offers a new perspective of Uganda. We will have a lunch break at Igongo cultural center. We will proceed to Kampala and the guide will drop you at your hotel or airport in time for your flight. This will mark the end of your 8 day Uganda safari tour.
