4 Day Uganda gorilla trekking and cultural safari detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest.
Begin the first day of your gorilla trekking with a briefing from your guide. Then set off for Bwindi impenetrable national park in the south western part of Uganda. At the equator, we will stop for breakfast. This will also give us the opportunity to take some pictures at the equator monument in Kayabwe. Proceed to Bwindi through Masaka and Mbarara. In Kabale, we shall have a lunch stop with amazing views of the terraced hills. Following lunch, proceed to Bwindi’s Ruhija sector. On arrival, we will check into the lodge, relax and enjoy the views of the primeval forest.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi and cultural tour.
Following a restful night, we will have an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for the gorilla briefing. Here, we will receive all the information about the park and their conservation efforts. More to that, we will receive the guidelines of gorilla trekking. After being allocated gorilla families to trek, we will venture into the forest in search of the gorilla family allocated to us. Depending on the location of the gorilla family, the trek will last up to 2 hours before encountering the great primates.
These gorilla families are comprised of a dominant silver buck, mature females, juveniles and babies. On locating them, you will have an hour to observe the different members of the particular gorilla family. You will have the chance to observe them as they eat, play and interact with each other. With the guidelines in mind, we will take photos, videos and just enjoy time with these awesome primates. After the hour with the primates, we will return to the lodge for lunch and a relaxing afternoon.
Later in the evening, head out for a cultural tour of the Batwa people. These were the original forest dwellers before the park was gazetted. They hunted and gathered food for survival. In this cultural tour, you will have more than an interaction. You will participate in their daily life, making food, dancing and sharing in their folk tales. Later return to the lodge for a relaxing evening.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Proceeding a successful gorilla trekking expedition, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Check into the lodge on arrival, have lunch and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Lake. In the afternoon, venture out for an island tour of the islands on the Lake. Lake Bunyonyi has 29 islands, each with its own history. The Akampene Island is the most famous though with its cruel past. Girls who became pregnant before marriage were left here to die. Visit the other islands of lepers’ colony, Sharp Island and the Bushara Island. The blacksmith visit shows how the Bakiga people managed to forge tools out of metal for daily use. At the end of this cultural tour, you will return to your lodge and enjoy the amazing sunset over the lake.

This is the last day of your 4 Day Uganda gorilla trekking and cultural safari. Have a warm breakfast before checking out of the lodge. Embark on the scenic drive back to Kampala.
